This site is under construction.

It will be dedicated to the history of the last contesting Brass Band in South Shields; The Westoe Brass Band and its former guises of Harton Colliery Band, Harton & Westoe Colliery Band and South Tyneside Health Care Trust Band.

Along the way we will touch on the history of coal mining in the town, together with a summary of the the history of the other bands of the Harton Coal Company (St Hilda Colliery Band, Boldon Colliery Band and Marsden Colliery Band).  We will also briefly visit the general history of the town of South Shields.  We hope there is something of interest to you.

At the moment the contents are limited to the first draft of a list of the Band’s contest results back to 1911, currently there are more gaps than results!. Could you help us to fill some of them in?
